Pomodoro Timer: one task, 25 minutes, then a break.
List your tasks, pick one and start the timer. You get a sound alert when time is up and each time you finish a task. Time and date come from your computer; your lists stay in this browser only, with no account or server.

What is the Pomodoro Technique?
The Pomodoro Technique splits work into short, uninterrupted focus blocks: 25 minutes on a single task, then a 5-minute break, with a longer 15–30-minute break after four rounds. It is named after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer used by its creator, Francesco Cirillo.
How to use it
- Add today’s tasks to the list, with an optional estimate of pomodoros for each.
- Click the target icon next to the task you are working on; it appears under the timer.
- Press Start or the space bar. When focus ends, an alert sounds and the break begins.
- Tick tasks off as you finish them: a short chime plays for each, and a celebration sound when the list is done.
Making it work in the office
- Silence notifications: mute email and chat during focus and reply in your breaks.
- Keep tasks small: split anything longer than four pomodoros.
- Use separate lists: create lists for today, this week or each project and switch between them.
- Close the day: the summary at the top shows today’s focus minutes and completed tasks.
Time and date come from your device. Tasks and settings are stored only in this browser and are lost if you clear browser data, so download a backup now and then.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Short answers on the Pomodoro Technique and using the timer.
Why are pomodoros 25 minutes?
Twenty-five minutes is a span most people can stay focused for and repeat without tiring. You can change focus and break lengths in Settings; 45–50-minute blocks are also common for writing or analysis.
Does the timer stop if I switch or close the tab?
It keeps accurate time when you switch tabs, because it counts down to a fixed end time. If you close and reopen the tab, it continues where it left off. The tab must stay open for the sound alert to play.
Why is there no sound?
Browsers block sound until you interact with the page. Press Start or Test sound in Settings once. Also check that sound alerts are on and the volume is up.
Where are my tasks stored? Can anyone see them?
Tasks, lists and settings are stored only in your browser and never sent to a server. To move them to another computer, download a backup in Settings and restore it on the other device.
How do I turn on desktop notifications?
Tick “Send desktop notifications” in Settings and allow the browser permission. You will then be notified when focus or a break ends, even while working in another window.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
Yes. The space bar starts and pauses the timer. Type a task and press Enter to add it, and double-click a task to edit its text.
