On-Page SEO Audit: one URL, close to 40 checks.
Enter a page URL; we check it from title and description to heading structure, from links and images to canonical and schema, from HTTPS to page size. Every issue comes with what to do about it.
What does the on-page SEO audit do?
It opens the page like a search engine bot, reads its HTML and checks it against the core rules of on-page and technical SEO. You get a score out of 100, critical issues, warnings and passed checks. Under each issue, a short line tells you what to do.
What does it check?
- Title and meta description: present, right length and pixel width, printed more than once?
- Content and headings: one H1, H2 subheadings, heading order, word count, placeholder text.
- Images: images missing alt text and images without srcset.
- Links: internal and external counts, nofollow on internal links, vague anchors such as “click here”, new-tab links without noopener, and broken URLs among the first 10 links and 5 images.
- Social tags: Open Graph and Twitter Card.
- Technical: HTTPS and mixed content, canonical, noindex, language, hreflang, schema, viewport, robots.txt, sitemap, soft 404, favicon, deprecated tags, plain-text e-mail addresses.
- Speed hints: HTML and DOM size, compression, cache headers, server response time, HTTP version.
How is the score calculated?
Each check has a weight; title, HTTPS, mobile setup and broken links weigh the most. On-page checks make up 53% of the total and technical checks 47%. The score is a guide, not Google’s ranking score. The quickest wins are the red critical issues; fix those first.
Limitations
The tool audits one page; it does not crawl the site. It reads the page without running JavaScript, so sites built entirely with JavaScript may show incomplete results. To keep load low, only the first 10 links and 5 images are checked live; use the Broken Link Checker for all links and Bulk Core Web Vitals for real-user speed. Results are cached for 15 minutes.
The checks and scoring model, including title and description length limits, pixel-width estimate, heading hierarchy, alt text and responsive image checks, vague anchor and unsafe target=_blank detection, mixed content, the soft 404 test and check weights, are adapted from Huzaifa Shoukat’s open-source seo-analyzer project (MIT license). Thanks for the work.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Short answers about the on-page SEO audit.
Does this score show my Google ranking?
No. It shows how well the page follows core SEO rules. Rankings also depend on things this tool cannot measure, such as content quality, backlinks and user behaviour.
How is it different from the Content SEO Analyzer?
The Content SEO Analyzer focuses on your text: keyword use, density and readability. The On-Page SEO Audit looks at the technical and structural side: tags, headings, links, schema, HTTPS and speed hints. Together they give the full picture.
Why doesn’t it check every link?
To keep the load low on your server and ours, the first 10 links and 5 images are checked live. For a full check of up to 100 links, use our Broken Link Checker.
My site runs on JavaScript. Are the results accurate?
The tool reads the first HTML the server sends. If your headings, content or links are added later by JavaScript, they will look missing. That is also a warning: some search engines and AI crawlers do not run JavaScript either.
Is it free, and is my data stored?
It is free and needs no sign-up. Results are cached for 15 minutes and then deleted.
